Default soft brake pedal after brake job

Just got done doing brakes all the way around, fronts were good but rear were down to metal. screwed the parking brake adjuster in so we could get new pads and rotors on and everything went well. The problem now is low and soft pedal. I know what is going on is the rear adjusted needs to come out but we have tried putting on the parking brake and releasing it a bunch of times and its still soft feeling.
My question is does the parking brake work the adjusted?
By the way the car is a 99 with a 3.8 v6 auto with traction control

Try making several stops in reverse. This is when the adjusters are supposed to move and tighten up the brakes.

You may also have air in the lines. Loosen the brake line to the calipers and have someone press the brake pedal to the floor, then you tighten up the line and have them release the pedal. Repeat this over and over till the pedal is tight and fluid is flowing out of the caliper fitting. Then check the fluid level and fill if needed.

Instead of taking off the brake line you could just open the bleaders on the calipers and press the pedal down to the floor tighten the bleader and do so until you get straight fluid, without any air in the lines. make sure to check that you don't run the master cylinder out of brake fluid though.

The answer is no. The parking brake does nothing to your "auto-adjust". You gotta do what roundman said. If that doesn't fix it you've got air in the lines. Doesn't sound like you broke into the system anywhere though from your description. If air got into the system w/o your opening a bleeder or disconnecting a brake line you may have other problems.

Check your fluid level and make sure your not losing fluid. I wouldn't think the rears being out of adjustment would make for a low soft pedal.
