Default Winter Project

I was thinking this winter I was going to pull my cailpers and paint them. The question I have is, well how do I do it. I have done many brake jobs but never replaced a whole cailper and bled the lines completely. I know I start at the furthest back and so on. The question I have is how do I get all the fluid out that is in there and is it even a good idea.
to let it sit all witer inside with no fluid in the lines.

Hey go to auto zone they have a new caliper paint you put on with a brush, no need to take them off to much $hit it will only take you 2 hours with drying time. and it a lot eazyer you don't have to tape and what not.

Is this post for real, or are you trying to make fun of ricers?? I dont see much behind painting youre calipers. But if you must.... remove the 2 bolts holding them to the caliper bracket. Then remove the one bolt holding the line to the caliper. FLuid will come out so make sure you put something under it. You can pinch the lines off with visegrips so they dont leak also. Next thing... Why would you want to get all the fluid out??? And why would you keep them off al winter, paints drys much faster than that. Paint them, put them back on after drying. then put the line back on nd crack the bleeders making sure they will come loose. Then start wih the caliper furthest from the master cylinder. And youre done.

No not a joke. They are painted silver from the factory just not a consistant color. I figured seeing as it will be off the road and I plan on adding some lights to lite up the switch and door handle area I would touch up the cailpers. The reason I say all winter is because I don't know how long they will be off once I take them off. I know it takes about 24hrs for the laquer to cure fully. But it may be a week or more before I get them back on.

Still debating anyways, thanks for the help.

I painted mine to get rid of the nasty cast appearance.

Dark blue, you wouldn't notice it unless I pointed it out. Silver, I just masked off parts and spray painted them in place. I used a small crafts paint brush in odd area's...

Casper, pinching the lines with vice grips? What!!

I do alot of nite driving and sometimes with passengers. The one thing I am not a big fan is that the dash and the radio only light up at nite. The door switches don't. I was planing on putting a small LED to light the switches. I don't have a lot of money to spend on modding the motor. Getting older close to getting married and moving out. So I figured it is a good a time as any to fix the little annyoneces (SP) about the car. The car is just sitting there all winter so I have a chance to fix some of them. The car won't be driven unless it is all together, unlike ricers.

I would like to do them on the car but it will be freezing in my garage[:@]
