Thanks Jason. I apreciate the advice and I agree with you.
Actually the C&L has what should be the correct tube for my motor mods etc.I also tried two other tubes and both of these triggered CEL. The codes were something to do with lean bank or something to that effect.

If you suspect something isn't dead right, then it is worth the effort to measure the C&L sample tube.
I have heard from several folks in the last year, who had the wrong tube.
With the addition of a custom tune (tweecer/pms or professional dyno) you could realize some benefit from a stock MAF with the bars removed.
That can be tough on the budget though.
Good Luck Poobs!

It makes sense that it would run lean since by removing the center post you let more air in.
Actually, the article that I read before doing the mod also says to drill out the tube - I guess to try to richen the mixture back to the right point. I skipped that step since the car seems to run fine.
If I ever get a wide band fuel gage. I'll check out what the transfer function isdoing with the mods....

DONT GRIND YOUR MAF. IF YOU WANT A BIGGER ONE BUY ONE....even then you will end up running lean without a tune.
