5.0 engine in 289 body
I have a crashed 1989 5.0. The engine is still good though. I just bought a 1967 289 coupe. I want to put the 5.0 engine in it. (It will fit right?) I do not know that much about cars. How hard would this be to do myself? What equipment would I need? If I had it done somewhere about how much would it cost? I also want to know whether to put the transmission from the 5.0 into the 289 or not or whether it would fit or how hard it would be to make fit. And how much would that cost? Or would it be better to just leave the three speed on the floor in there. remember I do not know that much about cars but am very eager to learn. so any tips or answers to my questions would be greatly appreciated.

It will bolt in, but keep in mind, that year 5.0 is balanced differently than your 289. Use the 5.0 harmonic balancer and flywheel. I'd ust the 5.0 trans also. As long as you have the 2 cars side by side, the swap should be pretty easy. I also agree with vfast, go carb. Get a good dual plane manifold and a 600 holley. Headers are a plus also. Keep the ingition that the 5.0 has. It's pretty easy to wire up. Good luck, and keep us posted.
