Back spacing on wheels

RE: Back spacing on wheels
best way to find out is remove one of the rear wheels and measure the backspacing using a straight edge laid across the rim and measure down from this to the back of the wheel at the lugs. this will tell you the stock backspacing and if you stay with this, the wheels will fit OK. I wouldn't go with those real skinny wheels up front unless I was taking the car off the street full time as they will greatly reduce the front tires contact area and have bad effects on steering and braking on the street too. also be sure if you're keeping it on the street that you get wheels which are DOT legal, lots of racing wheels are not DOT legal as they are built light and not made for the big shock loads you encounter on the street like potholes and speed bumps.

RE: Back spacing on wheels
Ok roundman i'm thinking of just having the tires on for Weekends and at the track. I want to add a cage and everything needed to make it legal at the track. I'm told to go with a 15/8 rear with 5.5 backspacing. But i wanted to double check with what other people might have.

Based on what you have already run, you will need a roll bar at a minimum until you go qucker than 10.99, then you will need a cage. you will also need a driveshaft safety loop, and positive axle retention devices (C-clip eliminators) assuming you are running slicks. and when you get the bar/cage, it would be wise to install some subframe connectors also if you don't already have them.
