Default Cylinder Heads

I have a 97 mustang that i purchased with a 72 year 351w .040 with trw flat top pistons. I called comp. cams amd they recommended i run a thumper series hydraulic roller cam at .050 it is 243-257 with adv. dur. 299-319 and lift is 552-538. Which set of aluminum heads should i run and will i need to change the pistons? Is this a good cam or would recommend another cam? The car has a 8.8 with moser 35 spline axles and astrange spool andi want to runa 4.30 or 4.56, which gear guys? I have a 3800-4000 converter with a c4 trans.

Sounds like you're building a pretty healthy car. Whether you have to change the pistons will be determined by the heads you choose, specifically the chamber volume.

Which gear you choose will be determined by your tire size and expected trap speed.

The chamber volume determins part of the final compression ratio, most important is valve clearance, a good dealer will know what is a correct head especially when it comes to valve clearance APR are nice and come in various "CC" volume, the lower the volume the lower the torque comes alive, remenber HP does not move a car torque does, HP does help do not take me wrong.
