How screwed am I? Oil pressure and noise issue, etc.

I will for sure be doing heads and timing chain cover at the same time. Looks like just a new head gasket as Pick Your Part didn't have any GT40's for me (anyone know a better lot to go scrounging in in San Diego?) [:@] .

Oh, and I just completed my third oil change in 3 weeks (no filter this time though). Went up from 10w40 to 20w50 and I now seem to have 15 - 20 psi when warm around 2k rpm (when warm and idling, still zero).

It could be a bad pressure bypass in the pump. If it's stuck open you'll have no pressure until you get the rpm up. If that's the case just replace the pump.

For anyone who reads this in the future, the switch from 5-30 to 10-40 did nothing, but 10-40 to 20-50 made the tapping noise stop and I have oil pressure (...most of the time).
I need to drop the pan for another reason soon, so should I add a regular, high pressure, high volume, or high volume and pressure oil pump? It's a daily driver street only engine... seems like high volume is best, no?
