My timing wasn't set correctlyon my 87 GT, so I got my light and set my base timing to 12 Deg and now my engine idles at 1100 RPM. The idle screw is all the way out and its still that high. I did disconnect the spout connector before setting timing. Any ideas? Also what RPM should these cars idle at with 5-speed?

 

idle should be around 750 i believe. could the iac be stuck open? umm... check you throttle position sensor.

 

I just checked the voltage on TPS and IAC is new and has been cleaned? Idles @ about 1000 RPM with spout connector un-hooked and then when I plug it in it advances the timing to about 22 degrees @ Idle and therfore Idle speed goes up. Could spout connector be bad?

 

Is the car warmed up when you set the idle?

 

Yeah it was. It ran for about 30 min before I did it. I only run a 180 thermostat so it doesn't get real warm.
