RE: Air bad light?
i think that my brother in law who helped me put a new engine in forgot to hook up the high voltage power or something like that? i went to a mechanic when i had a check engine light on and he noticed it was not hooked in a plugged it in, then the air bag light came on he said it could have happen through a voltage spike or something like that how do i fix it?

unhook both battery cables and touch the cables together. This will drain the PCM and related modules and clear all codes from memory. Then hook it all back up and see what happens (note, the car might run funny for a little bit untill the adaptives are relearned)

as long as the battery is totaly dissconected then it's fine. It's actualy the only way to clear some emissions codes without a scanner. What your doing is alowing the small amount of "KAM" (Keep alive memory) for the computer to spread through the ground disipating it. If your really really nervous about it you can unhook the batery and press the brake pedal. It does basicly the same thing but doesn't always work.

so i disconnect the main cables from the battery( the wires with the terminals on them) and touch them together, do i have to diconnect all the small ground wires attached to the cable
