I am purchasing a 91 LX 5.0 for 1200.00 tomorrow that is in great condition. The problem is it will not do anything when the key is turned, not even crank. The windows won't even go up. We already put a new starter solenoid to no avail. We tried jumping the soleniod, it will crank but won't run. Any suggestions. Thanks.

 

you would be better off flushing that 1200 dollars down the toilet after a huge taco bell dump.

 

If nothing happens when you turn the key on, then the starter is not likely to be the problem. Even if the starter is bad, you should still be able to use the electronic accessories. Make sure your battery is fully charged, check your terminals for correct connections, and you grounding wire from the batt.

 

I do know that most likely it is goint to be simple (battery cable, starter soleniod installed incorrectly) but if this is not the case. I there any one thing that can cause this problem.

 

Do you have power to anything when the ingition is in the ON position? If not and your battery is charged, you've got a bad connection somewhere. Check your fuses, terminals, and grounding cable to start with.

 

Well got the car to my house, there wasan aftermarket alarm installed and had been pulled half out. I restored all of the wiring back to the original places and removed the relays for the alarm system. I got the door locks to work. Here is what works, head lights, interior lights, door locks, hatch release, dash lightsand key in the ignition alarm. Here is what doesnt work, won't turn over, turn signals, brake lights, hazards, and the windows won't roll up and the fuel pump does not cycle. There is a red/black stripe wire that looks like it goes to the fuse box that has been cut would any of you happen to havebetter wiring diagram than chiltons/haynes so I can getter done. thanks.

 

Man I can't wait to get this car going.

 

Well figured out that the Alarm shorted out the yellow power wire going to the ingnition. Found this out on Wed. and have been driving the crap out of the car since. I have Chiltons Master wiring diagrams for a 90 and that helped I want to post them so others can use them where should I do that so they are easily accesible.
