nut wont come off
definatly invest in some vise grips. those thing will hold so tight they'll make their own groves in the nut. once you clamp those vise grips on you dont have to hold them, just turn the bolt and let the vise grips rest on something to keep the nut in one place.

got an angle grinder (or hell, even a dremmel?)
Cut a big old line in the middle of it (kinda thick, but don't cut it all the way in half)... then stick in a longer flat head screw driver perpendicularly to the bolt, and use the screw driver as a pry bar...
Basically, you turn the bolt into a flat head screw, use a screw driver at a right angle to the bolt, and you should be able to pry it out...
I've used this method a couple times when I've been away from my MIG and didn't feel like driving home...
