Manual or auto?

RE: Manual or auto?
thank god hills is one thing I don't have to worry about around here in Jersey ( 15mins from beach )
I'm kinda leaning more towards manual but still iffy.
The biggest thing is if I add alot to this auto would be great cause its just put it in D and your out! Don't need to worrying if you have to catch up with the car cause the power..
And if I do go with manual,I would upgrade the clutch for sure..
but as well if I got a AUTO I would put it a shift kit

depends if you want to keep the auto stock. i rode in a 70 chevelle with a 454 that was auto with a shift kit and like a 3000 or 3500 stall, and it was amazing. and i am willing to bet that a built auto with a high stall would beat a manual 99% of the time. if you are serious into drag racing, i would build an auto. it shifts faster and you can never miss a gear. my mustang is auto and i like it because it is easier to drive around town, and as i work on everything else, i will build an auto.

if we're talking stock vs. stock, stick wins everytime (assuming the driver knows how to drive it).
btw....discussingmods introduces way too many variables.

id agree with you if he actually was building an all out drag car.

Modding an auto will reduce some of the drivetrain power loss but not enough to be same as the loss from a manual tranny.
For drag racing, One of the well said golden rules is, if your car can do the quarter in 11 seconds or less then auto is the better choice.

I would go with a manual. I have one. You can control your shift points and plus they are fun to drive. Who wants to drive an auto anyways. LOL! Hope you find what you are looking for.

RE: Manual or auto?
I know I this car wouldn't be built for drag racing...Yes I'm going to take it to the strip to run it alot, but its not just going to be used for that..I will be driving this car around as well..So I'm kinda going with the manual decision cause I know its fun and you have more control of the car..Plus if I was ever going to make the mustang into a drag car and thats it I would then switch the tranny any for a racing one and to auto..
Just wondering...Anyone with 400rwhp that drives stick? If so how you like it??
