Default re-chrome rims?

Alright, so along time ago i saw on some car tv show these guys restoring this car and brought the lic plate along wit bumper and stuff too some shop where they had it in a pool of like acid and chrome and so on. I was wondering if this idea is possible for my rims. I have 03' cobra rims that are made of magnesium im pretty sure and when i polish them they look alright but not 1/6 as nice as bulleits or the real chrome cobras which leads me to think there maybe replica's. Nothing wrong with that at all, I just really want to go for that shinny look since i spend so long detailing my car that my rims really are a huge factor and can make or break the day. So does anyone have any possible info about this, price, place, durablityor if its possible along with the cycle? Im expecting that it likely cost more than 500$ and you prob have to strip the original finish then chrome plate it. The only thing that makes me most interested is if it will chip, if its a dip then wont that eventually fall off or is it for the life of the rim and a dfferent finish. This is all an idea and if its under 800$then its cheaper than buying a new set of rims. Thanks alot.

Default RE: re-chrome rims?

I think It may be cheaper and easier to get new ones and sell the old ones for 3/4ths or half the price on ebay or somewhere.
