Default Need a light scratch fix

I have a sort of big but light scratch on my drivers door. It really pisses me off b/c it's the first thing I see every time go to get in the car. I've seen some scratch fix sets online for around 40 bucks and even one at Wally World that was small and only 8 bucks. All of them basically come with a really fine grit sandpaper and some sort of polish. I just need to know what would be good and not mess it up even worse.

wetsand it w/ 1500 grit if its really bad then work up to 2000 grit. then use like a 1500 grit compound and high speed buff it out. or 3m coupound. then polish , then wax. if its bad enough to catch your nail pretty hard then don't bother. now your talking touch up paint. i wouldn't buy those kits personally cause they probably only do a couple scratches.

I don't think it's even through the clear coat it's just really wide so it's very noticable. I tried 3m compund but that didn't help much.

i would just try the 2000 grit. i just did a black mountaneer (explorer) that was keyed all the way down the passenger side the other day and i used the 1500 grit sandpaper (wetsand) and buffed. most of it came out except the real deap spots.
