V6 or V8
Lol, remember the good old days..where if you drove a v6 to the strip in this country you'd get laughed at, the good old days where the bolt on sixxers and imports couldn't even go to the track because all they got were insults..maybe thats only over here in GA but still..every generation :sigh:
I'll take heat from the owner of any V8 Mustang that can beat me around a track, and I respect a well built car regardless of motor size. however, I will not take flak from a V8 fan boy who's car only makes 400 ish and depends on others V8s as examples of what a 'real' car is.
Yeah, now a days those dang sixers show up pushing over 600 rwhp and make fools of unsuspecting V8 owners who think there Flowmaster/TB set ups are race cars just because they own a V8.

Anybody can BUY a fast car, it takes a gearhead to BUILD a fast car.
If you want something that's very fast and cheap... LS1 f-body all the way. If you want a very fast, badass Mustang, get a 03/04 Cobra. If you want a fast Mustang.... 4 valve Cobra or Mach. If you want a v8 that sounds great, but could be alot faster, get a 2 valve. If you like the 05+ Mustangs you are pretty much stuck with the 3 valve GTs. IF you want a Mustang just for the looks, get the 05+ v6. If you want an easy motor to work on and build that has a good aftermarket, get the 99-04 3.8 v6 (the 95-98s were singleport and super slow unless you do a splitport swap or a an m90 supercharger setup, but the m90 setup kinda limits the overall potential of the 3.8). A 3.8 can make 300rwhp easy for $5k if you know what you are doing... the same can be said for the 4.0. That is more than enough to take down ANY stock/mild bolt-on GT and that BMW too. I would def go with the first option if you want a fast car straight out of the box with a huge amount of options to make it wicked quick.... but this is a mustang site so I'll shut up.
Most importantly buy only what you can afford... there's no point in getting yourself into debt with something that has the potential to be destroyed by some idiot every time you take it for a drive.

A good driver with pullies and K&N can hit 12s all night on a Camaro LT1/ls1..they're good engines. But we're talking about Fords here, the 3v 4.6 responds really well to mods too. You can make it hit 12s pretty easy...cheaper and faster than the alternative engine.
Ahahaha..thats what i was saying when i was typing that.
..But really, stop talking like you got a car that can beat me.
I'm sure That GT Rear bumper And GT look a like Dual Exhaust makes you feel REaal proud about your six, huh?!! lolz
<<< = Ford V8 Rice Boy & Damn proud of it...if you got iss issueezz, let your car do the talking

I must say this is probably the most informative post in this whole thread. Great post. The ls1's are unquestionably the best hp/dollar modding V8 car out there. I know there's a few people that run 11's and I have heard of a few running 10'S N/A. 10'S!!!!!!!!! (I think the formula was heads/cam/intake/stroker/full exhaust/full bolt-ons/suspension and maybe more)
