Gasolines without methanol
Hello,
I just picked up an '05 convertible. In the manual it says not to use gasoline that contains methanol. i can't find any listing online of companies whose gas is safe to use. Can anyone help. Thanks.

they add methonal to gas when its real cold .I see it up in maine all the time.Arctic cat had big problems with the engines in there sleds blowing up from that stuff.I wouldnt worry about that now. any gas is fine

Here in WV they used to say right on the pump if the gas contained methanol.You can make a gas tester out of a glass jar.Make a mark on the side of the jar about half way up and fill the jar to that mark with water.Take some of the gas in question and pour it into the jar.Shake it up.Now let it settle,if the water now goes above the mark the gas has methanol in it.A tall skinny jar works best.
