Default Running Hot!

I have a 1997 Cobra SVT with a newly rebuilt engine balanced and blue printed. Problem is now it is running hot, about 230 degrees. They say it's fine but I feel it's still too hot. Any ideas? What does everyone else think?

Welcome to the forum, a fresh motor will run alittle hotter till broken in, but there are things to check for added peace of mind.

Is the radiator clean, inside and out, is the fan working properly, are the hose's old and weak and maybe collapsing ? Waterpump and T-stat should be new from rebuild.

230' is on the hot side, but not worrisome with a fresh motor. Break it in, then watch the temps drop.

I agree with 88 orangepeel, 230 is hot, but not alarmingly hot for a freshly built motor. All the tolerances are still tight and clearances are getting broken in. Once they do the friction will reduce and the temperature should drop.

Check the oil level/type of oil just in case. I assume all the hoses and radiator have been checked since the engine was rebuilt?

Thanks for the idea's and suggestions. Radiator is new, better thermostat just arrived today.
Do you feel a 2 core or 4 core radiator is best. I also have a single fan. Been burped, hoses are good.
First time playing with the Cobra, so not sure what is right for this car...

PS- Where to fid door panels?

Thanks

2 core is fine, single fan is fine, as long as they're working like they should.

Check out "Latemodel Restoration" website, they may have your door panels.
