I'm not sticking up for the dealer at all but most dealers now have a quick alignment check on the driveway when you check in. They clip these sensors on your rims and roll the car forward and it tells them if its good or not. Hitting a curb or pothole could throw a car out of alignment. Especially some of these roads in San Diego. LOL

I own a 2014 Mustang convertible V-6 with a little over 40,000 miles on it. I was flabbergasted but politely told them thanks but no thanks, but go ahead and change the oil for now. I wonder how many people fall for this sort of scam and get this kind of work done at inflated prices. I had high hopes that I had found an honest dealer but I guess they are all cut from the same fabric. An hour later I paid them 42 and change (35.99 +tax) and left.

no that wasn’t all tax, they charged you for “shop charges”, read your receipt and do the math(no way $6 of sales tax on $36) it’s a common bull ploy

one dealer on that special even tried to tell me my 2016 eco 2.7 had a special oil filter necessitating an up charge, extra qt if oil ( ok that’s legit ) and then the shop charges.

Called them on the filter and shop charges and got itvreduced snd never went back

went to new car purchase dealer meeting/seminar at another dealership. Asked specifically about my and wife’s GT oil change and asked specifically about shop charges. Response, “no shop charges”, straight from the service managers mouth

1st oil change in truck, shop charges! $1.44.
price was good without a special so no big deal but they can’t hekp themselves but to lie!!
and
shop charges are for rags , etc. guy filling oil must have spilled some on fil area that helps it not leak down on engine . He didn’t use those rags and thoroughly clean the area!!!!
discovered this at home in driveway , should have opened hood at dealership and checked so I could get my shop charges money worth!!
