First oil change at dealer
Had my first oil change at the dealer. I've had the car for 3 months / 2300 miles. I was surprised when the service advisor told me "you only needan oil change every 5,000 miles". (Yes, I know that's what the owners manual states.)
With other vehicles I've owned, thedealerhas always recommended 3,000 miles / 3 month regardless of what the manual says.
I had it done anyway since I was given two free oil changes when I bought the car. The regular price withsynthetic blend oil at my dealer is $34.85.

Yeah, Ford suggests every 3 months or 5000 miles. I had my first oil change done at about 2 months and 1700 miles, but I think it's nice to get the first one done a bit early if anything because the engine is brand new and breaking in (so the oil will be picking up a lot more crap than usual.) Just had my second oil change done last week at about 5 months and 2700 miles.
Just change the oil whenever you want, I plan on sticking with the every-three-months plan because I won't be putting a ton of miles on my car. And it's better to do the oil changes too early than too late, right?
Ford probably just wants to stick with 5000 miles so they'll have lower maintenance costs.

I think 3,000 is just an old rule of thumb. In the past, oils were not of the quality they are today. They broke down at a sooner time inside the engine which hampered the oils protecting abilities and performance. Todays synthetic oils are much better and last longer because of the advancedchemical egineering and technology used to make them.
Just because someone tells you to change every 5,000 doesn't mean you have too. Changing it earlier will never hurt. I usually take a sample of mine to see how dirty it is around 3k...and I usually change it anyway, but im not afraid to go over.

I go about once a month or at least every six weeks. I don't care how much mileage is on the oil. I would change it every 3000 if I were u. Its not synthetic its a synthetic blend. 5,000 is crazy, it feel like your car has sludge in it. lol
