Brake Problem: Strange Hissing Sound
I've had a strange almost undetectable hissing sound in my brakes when I step on the pedal for about a month now. A couple days ago, I hit the brakes, and at first the car didn't stop. Then, a second later, as I was reaching for the gearshift to put it in park, the brakes kicked in and worked normally. I pulled into a parking lot and parked the car, and this time I had a loud hissing sound as I stepped on the brake pedal .I'm back to the low hissing sound now, and the brakes seem to be working, but obviously there's a problem. I took the car to a commercial garage yesterday, they said the master cylinder is leaking, and leadsled some fluid into the booster, soo the booster should probably be replaced as well.I know practically nothing about breaks. To those of singed who know what you're talking about, does this all makes sense, and should I go ahead with replacing a working booster along with the master cylinder?Thank you very much
The hissing is a vacuum leak, which in tern, is why the brakes failed.
Either, the booster has a leak in it, or the diaphragm if you hear it inside
the car. I see you got that already from where you took it, but yeah,
a HISS would be a vacuum leak.
