Not being obnoxious..however I think most people think I am especially on this forum[&:] But...if you take an 04 Cobra that is stock with a manual tranny and you take a 04 Cobra with an auto with the perfect gears and torque converter you think the manual would take the auto?! If that was the case..then why do so many Cobra guys take the standard out for the auto???-Shane
i haven't seen an influx of cobra guys doing an auto swap......but i do see a lot of lightning guys doing the powerglide swap....when they hit 9's

and here is the big difference....a 13-second daily driver compared to a 9 second drag/trailer queen

when hp demands...or when you spray your car (sometimes they go hand in hand) a lot of guys go auto.

but hey go c4, c6 or glide

and yes...those dragsters are sticks.....good call mcfast

everybody is pretty much right , just need to put it altogether....i have had 2 aod cars....i tried to go fast on them and they kept breaking.

the fastest i have gone to date is 12.50......and i don't think i'll ever go faster than 11.80....so t5 for me, and i do spray on it. if for some reason i went into 10's...i'd probably go c4.

but i hate having to have too big of a converter on a street car...i wouldn't be happy w/out about 4k stall.

i like 5-speeds for the fun factor

I have an AOD and I'm more than happy with it, it's slightly modded and hasn't had one problem, I bought this car when I turned 15 and I'm now almost 17 and I still don't have the time or the money for a T-5 swap and even if I had the money I still probably wouldn't do it. Not alot of people have fast/modded automatics, and it's kinda funny to see the faces of the people that I've street raced when they see that I've got an automatic and I've blown their doors off.

I have an auto and completely regret it. Yes, it runs great, but compared to driving my brothers, its sux. Not for the speed and power alone, but for just the fun of it. We are cruising down the road, some guys parked along the side of the road and he puts it in neutral and revs it up a bit. Sounds cool, I could do this, but with an auto, it just kind of sux and gay at the same time, that and I would have to put it back into drive. Not only that, is there anything better than wrapping though the gears on a busy 4 lane one way, I dont think so.... Cant wait to swap, someday
