yea a good color change woud run no less than 15G's. If they do it for less its either bad paint, bad work, not complete work of a combination of those. Sell the car and buy another one if you want it real nice and dont want to shell out money. Cheapest way to go, if you get it done for less prepare to be disatisfied. I know this because i ran a Custom shop i texas

For that kind of money I think I'll just keep the car the color it is now. Thanks though for all the responses.

Unless it's going to be a trailer queen, there's no need to have a 15k paint job?

$5,000 bucks is enough for a show quality color change.

For those of you who have never painted a car, it is an *** load of work, esp if it needs body work. The last car I did was over $700 in just materials and had maybe 50-60 hours of labor in it not included the time it would have took to wet sand and buff it. To the guy getting a black color change with some body work for $1000 including materials, good luck. I will bet that the car will look like absolute crap. I don't care if you know the guy or not, doing it for $1000 is like doing it for free and he would have to using the cheapest paint he can find. I hate when people think they can cheap out on paint and body work and have it look good, you get what you pay for people.

unless you really want a complete color change but that envolves striping the car. that 20 job is a big *** suv its gonna get completely stripped motor pulled yanked off the frame and then painted. 2500 should get the car jammed a nice line under the hood the bottome of the hood trunk and inside gass cap painted.

btw i could get a hell of a paint job for a grand but um i got one hell of a hook up on that.
