put a magnet onto the pipe you are going to weld it to....if it "sticks" to the pipe it is steel...if not it is aluminum.

You should read before posting. He asking if he NEEDED a steel, or an aluminium one, not had.

I don't have a clue on the difference between them, haven't done full supercharger research yet... I'd place my vote for the steel one, it's stronger, if heavier.

you should learn what you are talking about before saying anything....the only reason they offer either an aluminum flange or a steel one is so you can weld it to the intake pipe. you cannot weld aluminum to steel and visa versa. if he has aluminum intake piping he has to get an aluminum flange...get it[&o] now he knows why and how to check. btw why the hell do people like you try to answer questions when you start your "answer" with "i don't have a clue"!!??

owned. and turbostang21 is right, use a magnet. aluminum doesnt weld to steel so that would suck to get the wrong one.

I see you are getting all kinds of help on the type of flange, I do have a question though, where will you be routing the vent to? Do you have a blow through Mass Air meter?
