Flowmaster sucks.....
Question?
With the endless choices of cat backs and axel backs, which do I choose if I only wan't a slightly enhanced version of what stock sounds like? A little deeper and fuller sound, with still retaining the rolling raspiness when you release from the pedal? I'd really like some ( i ) witness opinions on what would be a solid choice. Thank you, Erik

Flowmaster is living on their name not quality, I chose the Pypes violators because they are stainless steel. 4" tips a straight pipe and sound great much louder than stock but not as loud as the loudmouths, a nice compromise, they sound great and you can still hear your sounds, and you can always trust Brent at Brenspeed. I have read alot of guys could not really tell that much diffence between stock and flowmasters and have not desire to replace my violators. by the way i just installed a C&L air and X-cal2 from brenspeed. my stang is now more fun than prom night. and prom night was also fast and furrious.
Quality is one of the reasons I decided to go with Corsa axelback mufflers. They are 100% stainless steel and have a lifetime warranty. I have seen some complaints that they are heavier than other muffs, that's because they are built like a battleship. Corsas aren't as loud as some, but at WOT they really sound off and yes, they have NO drone. You truly do get what you pay for. Just my humble opinion. I love 'em.
I sold mine for the same "buzzing" (sounds like a loose licence plate) reason.
Only the right side muffler and Flowmaster Customer Service (Service????) was duh... "We haven't heard of that complaint ever, and we sorry buy we do not warranty direct to the customer".
I won't buy'em ever again for any vehicle or recommend them as I used to do.

After I bought the Flowmaster Series 40 a/b mufflers a couple months ago, I read about the problems some of the earlier models had. Then I read where the newer ones were fine so I figured I'd be okay.
Well, a couple weeks ago I started her up in the a.m. and heard a metallic rattle. I went to the back and the passenger side muffler sounded like a beer can with the pull tab dropped in it. After a couple minutes the sound went away. Now I'm noticing that every time I start her up real cold I hear the rattle, but then it quickly goes away. I went to lunch with a friend and he confirmed the rattle when I first started her up so it's not just my imagination.
When I spoke to brenspeed.com they said the mufflers would have to go back to Flowmaster and confirmed as defective before I could be credited, meaning I either need to put the stock mufflers back on, or buy a new set while the Flows get checked out.
My question is, did any of you guys (or gals) who also had problems notice that the rattle went away when the mufflers warmed up, or was it continuous?
I'd hate to go through the hassle of returning them, then have Flowmaster say they are fine. Plus if I buy a new set, then I'm stuck with having to get rid of the Flows myself.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

The 40 series muffler isn't the same as the one designed specifically for the 05+ Mustang. The 40 series muffler is something that's been around for years... shouldn't be a problem with it.
I've been running my American Thunders for a little over a year and have not had any problems. Loudness is a matter of opinion, but they are not too loud. Plenty of threads about a batch of them 8 months ago where the welds inside were breaking and Flowmaster replacing at no cost every single time. I see they at least tried to offer you a set for $200 with no documentation, that's pretty generous considering you're not the original owner. IMO the party you bought the car from should stand behind their sale and do you right. Guessing there's still a warranty with the car and if they sold it with aftermarket exhaust, they should honor that in their warranty.
