I think you're on the right track. When you said it felt like it was peaking out and that's why you were shifting, it really does sound like the 'torque nanny' I was talking about. Bet you'll lose that feel when you up your rev limiter. If you've never upped your rev limiter with the tuner then I know for a fact that's why you feel the peak at 6K cause the stock limiter is set for 6200 rpm. Set the limiter for 7K and be done with it. I don't know if you need the bamachips. For now, just do as you plan and let me know tomorrow how it goes. I have a hunch you'll do better tomorrow... Good luck.

I'd hafta agree with CK. I didn't see an improvement when I let it wind out to 6500, in fact I lost time. Might have been that torque nanny that he was talking about. I don't know what the red line is set at in Fred's 93 tune. Think I'll bump it up to 7K and see what happens next time I go to the track. I do still plan on shifting around 6200 though. Good Luck and let us know what happens.

Got home too late to post so I'll post the slips when I get home tonight.

I ran several times, all but one where I smoked 'em in 1st and 2nd were in the 13.50's and 13.60's at 104 to 104.5 mph. 60 foots were from 2.04 to 2.38 on the worst one. I beat an LS1 TA that was faster than me but cut very bad RT's twice so I got a good jump and it's all about who gets there first.

I'll post specifics with each slip later, but overall I was very pleased, a pickup of over 3 mph and 3 to 4 tenths isn't that bad.

Sorry, should have mentioned it. I shifted at 6300 every gear and hung out 3rd all the way through passing the mph beams at about 6300 in 3rd. I gotta say, this motor at 6300 rpms sounds much different than it does at 6k, it actually changes significantly, I have sensitive ears maybe I hear more I dunno, but it sure does sound different 300 rpms higher.

finally a great thread about real world issues not the 30th thread on how wide the tires can be on stock rims or when to change your friggin oil....

Good thread Viking...
I feel your pain on the track...my best was 14.6 stock (5900ft alt)...
after my c/l cai and tune i gained a whopping 14hp and tq (talk about disappointment...i was hoping for 20+)....14ph/tq for bargain price of aroun $650

i've posted a couple threads on these questions recently w/o much success...and you bring up the tuning issues as well...

i'm just nervous about setting my revlimiter above 6500...would hate to see a piston fly thru the hood!

anyone know what the safe redline limit should be for the 4.6 mod engines? CK?

also having issues with my tune itself...it is a predator dyno tune...and my WOT (open loop) a/f ratio hovers beautifully at 12.9-13.0...but the closed loop (less than WOT) is throwing bank too lean codes after just a few minutes...my tuner insists that I wont cause any damage and that if you're not a WOT it's not a big deal and won't hurt anything. He says I just have to turn my rear O2 sensors off and it will be ok...this to me sounds more like putting a bandaid over the problem and not really fixing it.....CK any words of wisdom there?

my best stock runs were 14.6...i'm going to try to go to test/tune tonight after my CAI and tune install to see what I run (throwing CEL's at lower RPMs and idle but at WOT it pulls strong and hard w/o pinging or detonation and my tuner INSISTS that I wont cause dmg at WOT with the tune I have in there now...so we'll see how it goes)

anyone have any suggestions or tuning advice here for us 05/06 GT owners that just cant seem to squeeze out those few more ponies from these cars?
