Thats whos buying(or acquiring) these cars. Same with the Escalade. They market these vehicles to the people who buy them the most. I personally think the new impalas are bland and boring reguardless of the fact there is a V-8 under the hood. the 94-95 Impalas were the last cars built that even closely resemble an Impala. These new ones are nothing more than glorified Luminas.

my dad had an impala, '77 (remember the new chevrolet?) posi traction, auto, used to wind it up in neutral and drop it into gear, was a lot of fun, 50/50 split front seats, great for hum js

Rumor mill is talking about the possibility of an Impala redesign to use a stretched version of the Zeta platform that the new Camaro is based on. That'd make it rear drive again, which could be cool if Chevy gets the styling right and slaps a 400 horse LS2 under the hood.
