Well, I'm not the OP, but I basically just want an easy way to change the level of my exhaust note. There are times when I want it LOUD, and times when I want it a bit softer. I'm basically trying to decide if it would be easier to switch an X-pipe out or throw a different set of axlebacks on each time. Get my drift?

Recommendations?

my xpipe was a direct replacement. . . no cutting necessary. . .

and also no welding. . . clamps were used for all places and its air tight

it was a bitch to squeeze in there though, i would not recommend trying to swap them out more than just replacing it

i had exhaust pro install mine, only 100 bucks

gotcha

thanks for the reply black.

i think i'm going to put the stockies back on and then have a muffler shop cut the muffs and put some tips on and make my own loudmouths.

then I can switch between those and the flowmasters.

SWEET!

I wanted an x pipe b/c I have heard that it gives over all more power than the H pipe, which I thought peaked at low end power (maybe more torque?) I have also heard them in person, and the sound is incredible. Stangs w/ off road x pipes sound like they are "Tearing ***" when they floor it. I have also considered the pypes off road H. I heard that it sounds real good with SLP LMs.

Why do you want an XPipe. Its actually been shown that X pipes create less horsepower the H Pipes. The stock one is pretty good, but it you want to replace it, replace it with an aftermarket H.

~Fred
I think you might have this backwards. X-Pipes have the HP advantage compared to H. Think about it--the X transition is much smoother (less turbulence) than the H. This is why all serious race cars that have dual exhaust run X-pipes, and why all the major header kits for our cars come with X-pipes instead. Even the Ford GT500 has an X-pipe on it as an upgrade from our "H".

Now then, for a stock engine or minor mods I don't think you'd be pushing enough air to see a noticeable gain--but, on paper the X-pipe has an advantage. If you don't belive me, feel free to check with the pros who design exhaust systems for megabuck race car: www.burnsstainless.com
