Sorry had to do it! lol but yeah it does effect performance. lets just say you freinds combinted weight with you equals 500 extra pounds of weight and thats assuming you and your freinds weight is 150 each.

It goes the other way too !!! Do some weight reduction =lower ET's
It's a power to weight ratio thing!

Using a horsepower/ET calculator, I got the following results.

A car with a total weight (incl driver) of 3500 lbs and a rear wheel HP of 265 is predicted to run the quarter mile in 13.8 secs. If you add three passengers with a total weight of 500 lbs, the predicted performance drops to 14.4 secs. To achieve the 13.8 sec performance with the 4000 lb vehicle, you have to increase the horsepower to 305 (RWHP). So effectively, from this example, the added 500 lbs cost approximately 40 HP at the rear wheels (15% drop in power).

so does that mean every 100 lbs = 8 HP? what is the equation for lbs/HP? how many lbs = 1 HP?

so basically if we all go on a really big diet we can start running high 12's stock!

here's a link to calculate HP/wt ratios and estimate ET's with additional mods. but the only real way to determine ET's is to run at the track.

Using the 265 rwhp figure, the total vehicle weight would need to be reduced to 2900 lbs to get into the high 12's. That much weight reduction wouldn't be possible and still remain stock.
