I drove big trucks for 20 years.

Double clutching involves:

a: pushing in the clutch pedal while moving the gear lever into neutral.

b: pushing in the clutch again and moving the gear lever into the next gear.

Why do truckers double clutch? Because big trucks have no snynchros.

Meantime - your competitor is long gone!
yes!! trucking rocks. i love the fact that non-synchroed trucks can clutchless shift. on long trips id drive 100's of miles while pushing the clutch in once at the beginning of the trip. nothing better
drove for 12 years. one of the reasons I got a Auto on my 'stang. However on the big rigs, when I got my clutchless down, I felt like a real driver.... The truck I learned on was a Cabover, short stick, cabled shifter. When I got into the 18 speed conventional long stick and learned to split, wow, compared to the short cable shift, it was like hot knife in butter. I do miss shifting a little.... I loved running with the Jake on full and not having the truck fart as I shifted up or down.

I think it feels awesome and I can feel a big difference at WOT between granny shifting and powershifting. Agreed, nothing to do on a daily baisis, but at the track with the knowledge your driveline could go if you miss a gear...eh, it's fun.
You've been powershifting at the track all this time? I feel betrayed....j/kI'm still too chicken to try it. I want my tranny to last.
Hey Man, thought you disappeared or something. Been hanging out over here? I'm not powershifting every run, especially when we can get 10-12 runs in a day. But once in awhile I give it a go. I do it on the street at about 1/2 - 3/4 throttle just to keep practicing (with no traffic).

Actually I have been hanging out over here a lot lately, and I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on the spydershaft. Back to topic though, maybe I will try powershifting at 5K or so...that way I won't hit my limiter unless I am really really slow.

These cars can shift without the clutch too, just gotta get the revs right
