Not to panic - with your mods your should have no issues unless you get a bad dose of gas at the pump. The plugs troubles is more frequently with the boosted guys and also leaded fuel users...

The problem is they go down into a tube or channel in the head and it is a close fit. Carbon surrounds the plug and sort of cements them in.

If you're still throwing codes check the gap!! These plugs do not come pre-gapped, I don't care what anyone tells you. If the gap is bigger than .045, gap 'em!!

Yeah, I haven't thrown a code on a cylinder with a new plug yet, but I'll definitely keep an eye on it. A small amount of winter weather apparently was enough to prevent the truck from bringing my plugs in today, so Betty is still hanging out.

I choose hammers way before I even knew it was hammers way. Ford designed the heads/plugs so maybe their way isn't the best.

ORIGINAL: hammeron

yeah, once you use anti-seize on the plug
threads, the plug hole gets coated.....i choose
to go anti-seize (no choice now really) from
this point on....

someone who's never pulled them, has the choice
to do it right (Fords way), or hammers way []

use your own good judgement

You take em out so often, it doesn't matter. It is an unfortuate design, but if you need to get lube down there, blocking the threads pathway isn't the answer. You know that picture at the Shell gas station that shows those 2 valves after 5000 miles? Maybe it won't gunk up so badly if one used Shell which I do BTW.

With our plugs we have to be carful when pulling them out and putting them back in because it is very easy to crack the ceramic and even a hair line fracture that you cant see (what probably happend to betty) will cause an arc between the plug and the cylinderhead plug channel. I had this happen to me. You need to examine every old plug to see if you had a cracked ceramic. You may not see it unless under a magnifing glass. They are fragile.

I'm guessing I did crack the ceramic in several of my plugs. I put a new one in my misfiring cylinder today, and it fixed the problem. I may go through and replace all of them now.
