Default few power adder support questions

I'm not looking to go FI anytime soon, certainly not in the next year, but i've got a few questions for those of you who have built your motors, and my search function isnt working so its not exactly easy for me to look these questions up =P

i figure if im going to spend $5/6k on a s/c or turbo kit, im going to want to get everything out of it that i can.

i know about 440/450rwhp/tq seem to be the magic numbers for detonation on stock internals. who here has built their engine (forged rods pistons crank), and how much did everything cost? anyone have the work done for them - whats the labor?

and as for the tranny - i heard also its living on borrowed time if youre starting to make 450 to the wheels, is true? if so, what have you guys done to your trannys, or what tranny did you replace it with? how much $$$ etc

The stock internal are good up to 500. Anything below is a safe number. With the manual trans all you need is a new clutch I believe. If you have an auto then a trowue converter will be good to get. The auto trans is fine for high horsepower applications. Chime in anyone and correct me if I am wrong. These are all things that I have read about, none are from personal experience.

I am also looking into a built motor. Most likely MMR's 950 motor. I think its 4K??
