Question Have tune. Okay to remove Hydrocarbon Trap?

I took off my K&N Filter to clean it today and noticed that silly thing in my intake. I bought the car with the K&N on it already. I did a search and found several posts saying take it out. Then I saw some that said leave it in because of air/fuel ratio issues. I have a 93 Performance tune from Bama. Can I go ahead and take it out? Thanks!

Taking it out is good for about 3 to 5 HP. That little bit is not going to change your AF ratio. I'd just take it out. It's a free 5 hp.

Also, Ford only put them in on the 2005 models.

Then what is that black plastic "tank" thing underneath the stock inlet tube that is attached?

take it out and the "tank" that you are talking about is pretty much an intake silencer, ford puts them on automatic cars.

Oh, ok. Thats pretty weird, I have an auto '06 GT, my car didn't have that on the intake, but I have seen it on other cars, they mustn't been '06's...

I'm guessing that's another 2005 thing b/c I didn't have one.
