Whipple Install Started

All done!
Got the airbox to go on today. It was hanging up on the valve cover and still has a ride condition on the valve cover and one of the brake lines on the anti-lock module.
I contacted Whipple today both by email and voice mail. So far no reply. Hopefully they will have a redesigned unit available in the future. I build airplanes by trade and really can't stand the thought of a hard riding condition or the preload that's on the air intake ducting.
After loading the tune with the new blue procal tool it fired right up. Myself and a neighbor checked for leaks and added coolant before taking a test drive. I love the sound of boost! The power comes on surreptiously, very linear and kinda sneeky but it's there and the front really lifts. The 4.10 gears are a perfect match for it. I'm going to try to get on a dyno soon.
One more thing for those who were wondering about the big boost upgrade: The intercooler holes are already in the intake, they have plugs in them now.

They changed it because of hydrocarbon emissions. The new standards are so tight they measure gas vapors at the intake. It's open on the bottom and the filter is an oiled K&N that's much bigger than the stock filter. I'd rather have the intake you have.
Doogie, It took about 13 hours total. About three hours of that was messing with the ill fitting air intake. However I didn't have to change fuel pumps or install an intercooler like you will. The Edelbrock setup looks like a winner.
Riptide, When I hear the whine the tach starts to climb! It gets through first pretty quickly. The HO version must be insane.

Sorry I was late to the party. Congrats on getting it installed and running.
Justin has been knocking whipple tunes out of the park lately. He got me 484rwhp and 469rwtq on a Gen 1 Whipple.
I almost bought the non-intercooled kit because I though 400hp was enough. In the end I am glad i spent the extra on the HO as I would have spent more to upgrade it.
To fix you intake trouble try contacting ST and see if you can get an intake from them. They have a nice one that is like 3.5-4" wide and runs into the fenderwell if memory serves. Hell chip in some money and maybe I will buy one and sell you my whipple one
EDIT*** Oh and I must have been one lucky SOB as Yellow delivered my Whipple without issue. I even worked that day and told the driver to call when he was 30 mins out. They did as I asked and I beat them to my door by 5 mins. It was better than christmas.

Congrats Bruce...glad it was done sooner than later! I love the lift it affords off the line too....all that TQ to the ground and the right launch and its so fun to experience.....I hate the redesign for 2008. Why didn't they use a CAI instead of the box? Has the engine bay changed that much from 07 to 08? Mines an 06 but you can see the difference in the pic below (as you already know)
