Those who are getting BBR cams I hope they're billet and not re-grinds. Re-grinds require shims which is just a really crappy way to go about it. If you're going to do it, do it right. You don't want something as important as a valve-train to let go due to a "hacky" implementation. That's all a re-grind is is a cheap hack.

I'd never use a re-grind in a million years.

For me, I'd go either Comp or FRPP. As a matter of fact, I'm most likely going Comp Cams ***** Thumpr. Although I'm still tempted by the Hot Rods due to the Ford Racing name and they're a little easier to install since they don't need phaser mods.

I'm getting the billets, but while on the topic, why not the regrinds? I have only heard of two such instances in which the regrinds proved problematic, and even then, BBR replaced them at no cost to the client. The regrinds was a method used up until early 2000s for all the cams and like mentioned before, the only cam you dont want as a regrind is a stage II or stage III.

I also got the billet ones - just a little more $$ but worth it. Install is supposed to start today for all my parts.....I'm anxious to get it on the dyno later this week.

The re-grinds do have the advantage of being cheaper. People have been doing them for a long time due to that. But they have also been using buckets of bondo to "fix" bodies on the cheap too.

It just doesn't feel right to me to have to add metal and re-cut a cam to be something it wasn't originally built to be and then having to shim up the valve-train to make the thing even work right. It's like a "bondo fix" for cams. But I guess if someone doesn't mind having a "franken-motor" to save a few bucks...

the only cam you dont want as a regrind is a stage II or stage III.
That right there shows there's something fishy about re-grinds. That's a red flag to me.

Good to hear you're getting the billet.

The BBR cams do have a wicked idle. Even the stage 1 sounds killer. I think BBR was the first guys to get the S197 to have an old school lope idle. The video of a yellow GT on youtube with BBR Stg 2 was there long before Hot Rods and Thumprs.

well it will certainly be nice when you finally get
some cams (whichever ones), but no need
to stfu. it's fun to talk about cams, even if
you don't have them quite yet.
