There ya go. Always give the company a second chance before giving them bad press. My SOS pod is top notch.

mine is very good, i am totally satisfied with it.
looks OEM, fitment is great.
i wouldn't trade it for any other gauge pod.

Question about 2 pods vs 3 pods. With 2 pods, do you get the top 2 pod locations in this picture or the bottom?

I've got a tweeter mounted pretty close to where that bottom pod is. Don't know if this would be an issue or not.

What a crappy place for a highly directional
high frequency transducer (tweeter). Point
em at your ears, not throwing the sound
across the windshield....

Helpful, as always.

Your tweeter would have to be moved to a new location with the SOS pod. That's pretty much right where the bottom pod goes.

Have you ever tried this? Sounds much better than other cars I've had with tweeters in the doors pointing at my knees or torso.

The soundstage created by the windshield is pretty good.

Default For Clarification

For clarification, I am not trying to give anyone bad press and I apologize to SOS if it came across that way.

The SOS pod was purchased through a third party that drop shipped it from SOS. The issue was handled directly through the third party and I never had contact directly with SOS because of the third party involvement.

I was only posting what my initial experience was with this particular product.

Initially, I was looking at center pods but nothing I seen out there matched the interior grain and color. I had heard that the SOS was the “cats pajamas” so I made the leap and bought one. When the product came in, I was disappointed that my expectations where not initially met (and I will admit that they are high) because of the alignment issues with the pods.

It looks like SOS stands behind their product and is willing to make any issues right and that is service hard to find. In addition, from what I have seen, the SOS product does have a superior fit and finish when compared to other pillar pods out there. I clarified in my original post that the grain and color issues are with other products and not SOS. I was unable to deal with the spacing issues (visually) or I would have kept the product and this would have been a post about how I liked my new SOS pods.

I will contact SOS and see what all the options are for getting a pillar pod. I will keep you all posted on what happens.

The 2-pod version had the pods at the bottom.
BTW, very happy with mine, too.

Yep, I always test locations for accurate sound reproduction before
mounting highly directional tweeters.

The soundstage seems likke it would be intermingled with the
opposing tweeter for a really mixed up sound. L and R would
almost be non-existant. Pointing the R and L tweeeters
at each other is a audiophile 101 no-no.
But if Mono Stereo is what you are going for....

I like it. It works. Not much I can do to convince anybody of that on an internet forum. LOL
I would have never thought doing what I did on my own. A good audio shop here twisted my arm to get me to try it. I finally bought into it when the guys from the shop took me out and showed me where they had done it to their personal cars.

It may be better if they were angled more toward the cockpit. This shop would have preferred a fiberglass fab to to that, but I wanted a clean factory look more than absolute perfect sound.

Anyway the config I have is way better than tweets in the doors pointing at my steering wheel or stomach and I am happy with the results.

Angled trim rings and the fact that good tweeters are somewhat
adjustable in the mounting housing should make it so they could
be pointed properly without fiberglass fab work....
