Default Air/Fuel ratio gauge

I am such a noobie and just getting started with my mods. The first of which is going to be some additional gauges so I know what is going on with the car. One of the gauges I am going to install is an air/fuel ratio gauge. If I have the stock O2 sensors turned off because of an offroad pipe, will the gauge still read if I attach the gauge to the O2 sensor? Or do I need to get a seperate oxygen sensor similar to what the widebands use?

A/F gauges read off the stock 02 sensor...wideband reads off a wideband 02 sensor

If you get a wideband, it should come with a sensor. A simple lean/rich AFR gauge is positivly useless on an EFI engine.
