Default 4.6L longevity under forced induction

I'm looking at going with a blower for the '10 GT. I have allot of experience with LS series motors (as my sig will attest), but the 4.6 mod motors are relatively new to me.

I'm looking at a vortech kit and plan on running around 10lbs of boost. I'll be upgrading the fuel injectors and pump. The motor has about 5k miles on it. Although my history may say different, I'd like to keep the Stang for a long long time. With that in mind, what is the life expectancy of the 4.6s with light boost? I'm not looking for 200k miles or anything, but I'd like to have the car for a long time. I do run the car hard on occasion (I am getting a supercharger! ) but I take care of her exceptionally well and like to err on the side of caution when it comes to the maintenance.

So how long will she last with a blower?

There have been several motors making it to 120k with blowers, but I'm not sure why you're picking vortech. It's the worst blower considering an internally vented turbo costs the same and sounds the same here's a comparison between 3 types of blowers all intercooled all costing the same and all at the exact same safety margin:

Yellow = Saleen
Black = Vortech/Paxton (are clones of eachother)
Red = Turbo

Notice how the Saleen puts out 25% more power below 3700 RPM, but 20%-25% less than a turbo at high RPM, consider this as your daily driving will include mostly being below 3700.

Also as a race car driver I'd like to stress that the Saleen style blower has a million times more linear power curve than any other style of blower. This is very important to driving fast safely.

hmmm... Thats something to consider. Does type of blower have any affect on the lifespan of the motors? 120K would be plenty for me, as I'm sure I will have moved on by then....

Is 120k unusual though? Sorry for the noobishness, but most of my experiance is in naturally asperated applications.

Your car with any type of FI can and will last for a while but it is impossible to say how long. No motor is created equally but IMO the tune you run with FI will help make the motor last much longer.....the above examples are great but get whatever FI you like based off whatever your wanting from that particular type of FI. Vortech is like a belt driven turbo and they have proven themselves over the many yrs they have been around.

If you want instant TQ get a Twin screw S/C like the KB, Whipple, or Saleen.

If you want a centri that HP and TQ rise with RPMS then Vortech, paxton, and procharger are the way to go.

Turbo's are nice and they have lots of parts so talk with someone that has one and their exp with them. Bobby and Simon can give input

As long as your A/F is on the money 10psi boost will be no problem for a long time.
