Default Still Scratching my Head on this one...

Yesterday on the freeway, some kid in an EVO 8 was wanting to race. So, I dropped into 3rd @ 70mph, thinking I would have a quick make of 3rd gear before going into 4th. But the power just fell off in 3rd, almost immediately. By the time I compensated and got to 4th, the EVO was pulling away and did till about 120mph. What gives? Why did the power drop off like that? Anyone else seen this and if so what is fix? CAI and flash the CPU?

Still scratching my head...

I have Steeda CAI, Steeda Exhaust, and SCT Tune. I don't have any problem dropping it to third. It might be my tune though. I don't know. That sucks.

Sounds like you just hit the rev limiter. Get a tune and extend the rev limiter if you want to do that. Mine will drop to third without hitting the limiter at 70mph if I drop it manually with the auto. It doesn't hit the rev limiter but I think thats because of the higher rear end gear ratio in the autos. If I let mine hit about 80 in third I hit the limiter.

I have posted on this a few times...
You can be doing 80 drop to third and not hit the rev limit, this is a problem with my car, see the https://mustangforums.com/m_605863/tm.htm thread...

I posted about this, too. The car is finicky. The computer just freaks out when the revs jump after an extended run at a set RPM range. It cuts the throttle. My Diablo did -not- fix the problem. Any ideas?

I have not had a problem with this at all and I've driven around the same rpm for about 5-10 min and down shifted and took off. Mabey I didn't hold the same speed long enough to trigger the problem though, I havn't had mine on the freeway yet.
