the belts do stretch on both sides. I read a lil tidbit on here some time ago, the ribbed pulleys only turn clockwise and the smooth opposite. it may be the other way around, but still, yes the belt will stretch over time, if the tensioner doesn't spring back to where it was with a new belt then the old was in need of changing. good luck

Ya, the old belt was cracked a little when you looked close. But there wasn't any squealing yet. But considering how easy it was replace, I went ahead and did it now.

Yes, the pulley did not spring back as far as the original.

I kept the breaker bar and the old belt in the trunk just in case I did something wrong, I could revert back and not be stranded. I think by the end of the week if no sounds or over-heating occurs I will feel safe. A week long test should be good.

My brother works at a garage by our house,
so when it was SCREAMING INSANELY LOUD, i took it there, my brother was on lunch, & someone else replaced the belt...
it was good until the next morning at 5am when i was going to work RAWRRRR!!!! it sounded 1000x louder than before!

the bolts weren't tight enough,
& totally ripped the new belt to shreds haha
...i thought it was funny;
i don't think the neighbors have forgiven me yet...
