I have Long Tubes, no CATS, FRPP exhaust (the older one, Borla Stingers I believe) and I am also looking to quiet it down, it really is obnoxious (secretly I Love It!), especially if I hit the gas. I have stock mufflers to put on and see if it helps, just don't want to lose any HP.
Couple videos for reference on the Sound:

I would not put cats on it unless you have to get it tested. A pair of hi-flo cats would definitely quiet it down, but I would put on either the GT500 axle backs or even the stock axle backs. I just recently installed an off road X pipe and it was too loud when combined with my Roush axle backs. So, I just put the stockers back on and I love the way it sounds now. Adding cats might be the cheapest option but it is going to rob some of your power. I would not want to go that route, personally. The GT500 axle backs are not very expensive at all compared to the rest.
