Where can I find a 6 bolt flywheel to change the auto Mach 1 to a manual?
Hey everyone;
I am swapping an auto03' Mach1 engine into a 97' Cobra and I am going to be running the crappy T45 (325ft rating) untill I get the TR3650 (365ft rating) later.
I need to know where I can find a 6 bolt flywheel for this conversion. I did some searching around and couldnt find anything. I couldnt even find anything on Fidanza's website.
I would preferSFI with inserts if possible, and really would rather a Fidanza if they have it.
Now I have two questions after I get this flywheel.
Will I have problems with the cast crank? I notticed that it lacks two center counter weights that the forged crank has. I remember hearing something a while back that this crankshaft when used behind a manual can develop problems like cracking and even complete failure. Anyone know anything about that?
Now for the dampener, will I have to get the manual dampener? SHM is kinda lacking detail with this question in one of their books but it seems that the manual and auto version is different which leads me to think that I need the manual dampener.
Now the trick unexpected third question! Being that the crankshaft lacks the two center counter weights would I still use the automatic 9.5lbs dampener?
Those problems are why I have not used this engine before and have used others when I should have used this. This is a 0 mile engine but when I ordered it it was suppose to be the steel 8 bolt manual version, but I got the cast6 bolt auto version. Needless to say they would not accept a return because they knew they lied to me about the crankshaft.
Thanks everyone

RE: Where can I find a 6 bolt flywheel to change the auto Mach 1 to a manual?
I figured so much, but isnt the GT an 11"? Also wasnt the 96-01 Cobra a 10.5" and the Mach 1 an 11" ???
I probably can find the specs if I looked in my book but I am lazy :P
I guess I will use the 6 bolt GT flywheel from Fidanza then. I guess that means i have to go with the 11" clutch setup from a GT also.
Will the T45 bell housing clear an 11" flywheel and clutch setup?
Bleh, I use to know all this crap a couple years ago when it seemed like I was swapping transmission ever couple of months.
Very true, you lose what you dont use

RE: Where can I find a 6 bolt flywheel to change the auto Mach 1 to a manual?
Well in that case it looks like I will have to use a 96-mid 2001 GT flywheel.
I would love the 3650 but I am spending too much cash on other things at the moment.
Thanks for the help everyone
Anyone know if the 3650 in the 05-08 is the same as the 01 Cobra and late 01-04 GT and 03/04 Mach1? As in the harness for it.
Also how do I get past the manual speedo of the T45 and the electronic of the 3650?

Ya, I knew the S197 had the TR3650, I just wasnt sure if the harness for it was the same or could be interchangable.
As for the last question, if you change gears in a pre 01 Cobra or GT you have to change the speedo gear, in late 01+ you have to use the tuner to change the gear ration.
So my question on that was if I use a TR3650 how do I make the speedo work with the lack of the plastic speedo gear?
