Newbee here w/ a few questions
Hi all!
I'm a newbie here, and have a few questions. I don't currently own a mustang, but man do I want one.
First off, my cousins/uncle have always been mustang freaks. They've all had several. My cousin has nitrous in his...
Anyway, the model I like is the early 90s late 80s ones. What years was that style made?
I want to get a manual transmission gt 5.0. It looks like around 7K could hook me up w/ a decent one???
I've mentioned this to my cousin, but forgot how he answered. I want to be able to blow the doors off a stock mustang. I don't need or want to go overboard (though there's nothing wrong with that) and be able to compete with their cars, I just want a little extra kick. What sort of engine mods can be done with breaking the bank? How much do those cost compared to dropping a new and faster engine in the car? Obviously, you can probably tell by now that I'm not really in the know when it comes to working on cars...
It's been awhile since I sat in my cousins' cars...do tall people fit in them okay? I'm 6'4" How much headroom do you lose w/ a convertable? I ask since this will probably be a pleasure second car.
hehe, I had set my mind on getting a DeLorean, but I think a Mustang might be a wiser move. I like both cars, but as I said I'm no mechanic...and from what the DeLorean owners say even some real mechanics don't always know what to do with a DeLorean, and they are notoriously unreliable cars anyway.

RE: Newbee here w/ a few questions
Welcome to the forums. Im not to smart on the 5.0's but im sure the mods you can do without breaking the bank would be underdrive pulleys, exhaust such as long tube headers and mid pipe, upgraded sparkplug wires and ignition. There are a lot of smart guys here that can tell you exactly what to do to get the most out of your ride.

RE: Newbee here w/ a few questions
89-92 is what year Mustang you want if you intend to mod it - as those years had both mass air and forged pistons. The same body style was used from 87-93, from 79-86 a similar body style was used with 4 headlights and un (IMO) uglier front end.
