You can't just grab any 8.8 because the F150 will be a very different mounting system and size of axle.

You can use any Mustang GT from 2005 to 2014, or any Mustang GT500 of those years. You can use any Mustang from 2010 to 2022 because the V6 was upgraded to the 8.8. Depending upon the year you will need to swap the pinion flange to mate up to your driveshaft.

I am going with the 3:55 gear ratio i wanted to get a little more off the line and not sacrifice fuel economy or top speed

You're welcome. I just did an edit to my reply. I had a date wrong - not sure what I was thinking when I put that on this morning. You can only go up through the 2014 model year because after that the Mustang has independent rear suspension so the rear end won't fit.

For the 2011 to 2014 it depends upon what the options were on the car it comes off whether you will need to swap the pinion flange - most of the V6 rear ends you will need to do the swap but not all. The flange you are looking for is the "cobra flange". If you get a 2011-14 it is best to check first to see if you have the proper flange before swapping.

If you check the S197 V6 section there are probably several write ups on how to do the rear end swap.
