I was looking at buying a flowmaster cat-back system and was wondering how well they held up??? Especially how well they do in the rust factor? Are they Stainless steel or no? Thanks.
Didn't you post this same question in another section? If so please only post in one section.
Thanks
JD

Ive had my flowmasters for about 2 years now.Theyre holding up great sofar. The case of the mufflers looks great, but the welds have shown a little rust. Thats normal with any stock type muffle anyways. Theyre all gonna rust a lil if its not SS. Just spray some WD-40 on them from time to time.

Ya I live in Ohio and we get all 4 seasons including winter(can be up to 12in. at times) and spring with the rain. So I think I should def. go with a SS system since I will unfortunatley have to drive it during winter

WD-40 does not inhibit rust actually, will promote it in the right conditions.

Ive had my flows for about 10 years. They have accumulated surface rust but not much more than that. I live in MI, and they use A LOT of salt around here. Personally, unless youre going to a larger diameter, you dont need to replace the tail pipes. The factory pipes are stainless, theyre not polished but they are stainless. My factory pipes are laying outside and have 0 rust on em. BTW, I have driven my car through 5 or 6 winters, and my flows are holding up nicely. It all depends really, when I used to drive my car in the winter, on average Id wash it 2 times a week to get the salt off of it. Id take it to auto car washes so they could wash the underside.
