Default belt problem on a procharger...

Okay so for the longest time i have had a rib or two of the belt (opposite side of the block) rip off. It's a real pain in the a$$ because it will wrap around the procharger pulley and break a seal. I have heard a few people have had the same problem. They have said that there pulleys werent lined up, or they had to switch to the 8 rib setup. People have also said that the bypass valve that comes with the procharger is only good for 10psi then you need to go to a race bypass because it doesn't release enough boost when your wot and let off. I was just curious if anyone has had or knows someone who has had this problem. Any feedback will be much appreciate!

ALSO, does anyone know of a good mustang shop or a shop that does good work (installs prochargers) in the state of Maryland. I would like to take it to a shop so they can make sure the belt is lined up. Thank You.

Could be tilted, not enforced well (which would make it flex at higher load), or not lined up properly. I always use a 3ft level when fabricating the kits. Put it on your crank pulley & check to see how the other pulleys line up (this is to make sure the crank pulley isn't bent or warped) then check it against your s/c. It should line up perfectly. If not you can use shims or washers to correct it providing it's still stiff. Also, double check & make sure it's not on the edge of any other pulleys rubbing against something, specifically the smooth ones like water pump & tensioner. Make sure your belt is tight as well.

let us know what you find out.

I've had this problem on my car for a while, I checked many times on the alignment of the pullies and they were good, the only thing i saw was the belt was jumping around alot on decel between the alternator and p/s pump. I used another idler pulley and bolted it to one of the timing case cover bolts to add more tension. I've been hammering on it for a few weeks now and its not jumped of the p/s pump or ate anymore ribs yet.

I have had a couple procharged cars without any belt issues. I think it is in the alignment.
