I am looking for a place in the Chicago area that does Rim widening and welding - does anyone have any recommendations? There's one in Michigan, but want someplace I can drive to.

I'd be surprised if it's cheaper than buying new wheels... Heck, you can get a set of 4, chrome GT500 knockoffs from ebay for $360 + shipping.

Inever heard of "rim widening".

 

It was $200 a wheel from the place in Michigan. I don't trust buying anything from e-bay. If I could get that price at a reputable distributor, I would probably just buy new ones. the problem is.....I only want the rear widened, and I don't want to have to buy ALL FOUR new ones, and I can't match the existing ones in a wider width. So I either widen the rear ones I hvae, or buy four new wheels.
