2) The Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec. I've spoken with several guys using these on race tracks and autoX who love them. I've also read several reviews of them, all glowing.
You had to come up with this info didn't you! Just when I figured out that all I need to do for next season is get two KDW2s (one to replace the one I split on a curb) and I was set for another season. Whew - I just checked the Nitto web site and they don't come in my size.

I am not talking about just spinning easy.
I am talking about flat out sliding in 1st and 2nd gear and not being able to hook with the BFG's.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for the info. That's interesting, nobody said anything about Pirellis, may I ask why? I always thought Pirellis were at the top of the mountain with Nittos right behind them...

By the way, what is a good treadware rating? Where does 200 stand?

How will the Nitto NT05 do in rain? Also where can I buy these? Anyone know what size I need for the Foose Nitrous 18" x 8.5" rims I have?

Thanks again,

Nick

Check out www.tirerack.com and all of your general questions should be answered. They do not appear to sell Nitto tires so also check out http://www.nittotire.com/#index%2Etire%2Ent05%2Esizes

The stock Mustang tires have a diameter of 27 inches so generally people choose tires that have the same diameter.

Just looked at the Nitto site, seems you are out of luck for the new NT05s. They make a 275/40/18 but the recommended rim width is 9-11". I also notice that they are not even on the market until Feb.

Just for the record - treadwear rating of 200 is low, its the price you pay for grip. In general the lower the number the more grip and the shorter life. R-Comps are rated at 100 and below. The Nittos will not be long lasting tires. It very much depends on usage but something in the 12-18K range would be about average. Rain - can't say since no one has them yet. But having used tires very similar - they should be ok, not great. Fine on wet surface, not so good in downpours.
