An adjustable length panhard bar allows you to center the axle relative to the car body. When you lower the car the wheel on the drivers side will tend to stick out of the wheel well a little more. Not really sure if this affects handling in anyway, but it bothered me that the axle wasn't centered. Panhard bars are relatively inexpensive and easy to install.
