this is the carb i have and is running rich the smell of gasoline from the smoke and also when i reved it black smoke comes out is this damaging? how do i fix it?is it as easy as tuning the mixture screw?

Depends on what part is rich. Idle circuit, might need re jetting. If it only smokes when you rev/accelerate then the accelerator pump shot might be too big. You also have to have ignition timing right. 90% of carburetor problems are really ignition problems. But it does sound as though it's rich somewhere.

Look inside the carb when it's running. If you see fuel dripping, you probably have dirt holding the needle valve open.

good call i the ignition problems... but check to see if you have any vacuum leaks that will play a factor

Usually see the secondaries dripping on all the ones i have rebuilt
