Spearment you're ABSOLUTLY right... but that was the question in this thread... "Will a stock rx8 beat my 2001 GT"... so the answer is yes, the awfully slow 1/4 Mile RX8 will lose the race... now go on like a road course with it.. and you better have some damn good suspension and some talent if you want to beat one

and even then you'd be lucky, because as you are slowing down in those curves he's just driving through them. This is because even with the best suspension it's really hard to overcome that weight distribution. So:
1/4 mile - yes you win.
Road course - no, he walks you.
Autocross - he makes you his b****.

I'd give it to the RX-8 from a roll too..... They aren't as slow as you guys probably would like to think.... They are comparable to S2000s in torque,HP, and weight..... But like I said, nobody buys an RX-8 to go terrorize the strip...

Mafia.. even tho there is a 40hp differance... my buddy when he stole the rx8 - the v6 automatic mustang beat him from behind... and it was from a roll... yeah you buy them because you're tryin to road race, or for looks, not for the strip... im still hoping they come out with a Mazda Speed version of it...

Those things are beautiful, they really should make a fast (1/4 mile) version of it. They need to it make a feared car like the rx7.

Yeah, 14.49 with great driving sounds about right. A 99-04 GT should be capable of about a 13.9 with good driving skill, I've heard of a 13.7 from a reliable source (NOT typical, though).

13.9 isn't even typical for a stock 99-04GT... I'd put us near 14.2-14.4 which is pretty close to the Rx-8. Also, just because the person is a professional driver doesnt mean they are going to perform perfectly with that car....

you just owned yourself by your own logic. They are a 14.5 car with an amazing driver... i've seen them run 14.9's best. The GT's about .4-.5 faster given equal drivers.

Also, i keep seeing one around campus it has a small greddy sticker... wonder if its actually turbo'ed i'd like to run it.
